The Copenhagen based Phenomena Collective joins East Wing's developing roster of emerging contemporary artists the use the medium of photography to open up new artistic dialogues. The Phenomena Collective is: Tobias Selnaes Markussen, Sara Brincher Galbiati and Peter Helles Eriksen. The trio began their own creative studio in Copenhagen, Denmark five years ago.

They normally work individually as photographers on personal projects and commercial assignments. The Phenomena project is their first as a collective and the beginning of a praxis, that will continue pushing the boundaries of todays documentary photography.

"We believe that the romanticized ego of the photographer needs to be challenged and dissolved. In the Phenomena project we don’t work with distinctions between who took which image. Our work should be judged solely on the nature of the content. We have experienced that working as a collective has been very liberating and has transformed Phenomena into a much stronger body of work than any of us could have achieved by ourselves."

Their first solo exhibition of Phenomena was mounted during Rencontres d'Arles in France this past July coinciding with the release of the companion book, published by André Frère Editions.  Both exhibition and publication were met with rave reviews from Le MondeThe Huffington PostFisheye Magazine, CNN, and other portals of the international press.
