Shadman Shahid is a photographer and filmmaker born and raised in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. His work is focused the precarious balance of the corporeal and the spiritual of humans in contemporary society. Shadman's photographic methodology walks a fine line between documentary and fiction driven by a strong sense of the aesthetic.
He has been awarded a number of opportunities and prizes, including World Press Photo’s Joop Swart Masterclass, a feature in British Journal of Photography's 'ones to watch' in 2016 and Burn Magazine's emerging photographer of the year in 2018. He is currently based in the Netherlands; working on his personal projects while completing his Masters in Photography and Society at the Royal Academy of Art in Hague.
Prior to moving to the Netherlands Shadman was a lecturer at the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute for three years, from where he also received his Professional Photography degree in 2015.
