Premiering her collaborative project
'Astres Noirs' at Paris Photo this week, East Wing is thrilled to announce representation of Australian based artist,
Katrin Koenning.
Presently based in Melbourne Austraila, Katrin Koenning is originally from Germany. Her series, such Astres Noirs (with Protick Sarker), Indefinitely, Successions, Dear Chris and others exposes her deep interest in physical and emotional connections to place. She is regularly exhibited in Australia and abroad, with projects being featured at numerous photographic festivals; from Chobi Mela (BD) and Organ Vida (CR) to Noorderlicht (NL), FORMAT (UK), Athens Photo Festival (GR), among others.
Koenning has won numerous accolades, including the Conscientious Portfolio Award and the Daylight Photo Award. Her images have been published widely, in print and online, such as ASX, The New York Times, Marie Claire Magazine, The British Journal of Photography, The Guardian, Der Spiegel Magazine, National Geographic, The New Yorker, SBS Australia and many others.
She published her first book,
‘Astres Noirs’ (Chose Commune) a collaboration with Protick Sarker. The book was a finalist in the Paris Photo Aperture First Book Award and was winner of the Australian Photobook of the Year Award 2016. She works as a freelance photographer and lecturer in photography at her home in Melbourne, Australia Astres Noirs will have its first exhibition premiered at Paris Photo 9 - 12 November in the Grand Palais.
Katrin's gift of light is ever present in all of her images inviting her audiences to explore different possibilities of reality.
