East Wing is delighted to announce representation of Belgium artist, Sanne De Wilde. Sanne is a graduate of the International School of Arts in Ghent. Her photo series

‘Snow White’ was awarded 16ème Prix National Photographie Ouverte and NuWork Award for Photographic Excellence. and its continuation,
‘Samoa Kekea’, was awarded the Nikon Press Award 2014 for most Promising Young Photographer. The British Journal of Photography selected De Wilde as one of 'the best emerging talents from around the world' in 2014.

Sanne's new body of work The Island of The Colorblind which looks at the the results of a catastrophic typhoon swept over Pingelap, a tiny atoll in the Pacific Ocean in the late 18th century. One of the survivors, the king, carried the rare achromatopsia-gen that causes complete colorblindness. The king went on to have many children and as time passed by, the hereditary condition affected the isolated community and the islanders started seeing the world in black and white.
Sanne received the
Firecracker Grant 2016 award for this work, an award which specifically promotes women working in photography and also the Nikon Press Award 2016, she was also a finalist for FCB Photo Awards. Since 2013 De Wilde has worked as a photographer for the Dutch newspaper & magazine De Volkskrant in Amsterdam. She joined the NOOR agency as a nominee in 2017.
