Chris Iduma is a self-taught photojournalist and visual artist who uses photography to explore identity, history, and socio-political issues. Originally from Lagos, Nigeria. Iduma was a 2021 Leica Oskar Barnack New Comer Award nominee and a featured artist in the 2021 British Journal of Photography Open Walls Arles Exhibition. His work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.

Chris Iduma is a self-taught photojournalist and visual artist exploring identity, women, history, and socio-political issues. Originally from Lagos, Nigeria. Lagos, Nigeria, Iduma considers his work a protest against time for and certain societal constructs.
In his artistic practice he uses varied approaches; conceptual, experimental and documentary. Iduma explores how the context of his photography impacts on the relationship of the viewer’s to their social and cultural identity. His photographs take on various forms intended to draw viewer in, allowing them to feel like both co-author and witness; providing the opportunity to challenge one’s perceptions, and assumptions.
Christ Iduma was a nominee for the Leica Oskar Barnack NewComer Awards 2021. He was also one of the eight black recipients of the John Herrin Memorial Scholarship in 2021 to attend the FotoFest The Meeting Place Portfolio Review, in Houston, Texas. Additionally Chris Iduma’s work was also featured in Arles in 2021 in the British Journal of Photography Open Walls Arles exhibition. His photographs are included in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
