Rehab Eldalil – “From the Ashes I Rose”
Eldalil recives support for her ongoing project From the Ashes, I Rose, originally commissioned by Cortona on the Move 2024 and Médecins Sans Frontières. The work collaborates with patients at MSF’s Amman hospital to reinterpret personal trauma as resilience and transformation. Combining photography with mixed-media interventions such as diamond painting and drawing, Eldalil highlights agency, creativity, and collective recovery, fostering dialogue across global communities and challenging prevailing victimhood narratives.
Federico Estol “Heroes del Brillo” / “Shine Heroes”
For six years, Estol has collaborated with sixty shoeshiners in La Paz, Bolivia, through the Hormigón Armado street newspaper. Together, they created Heroes del Brillo, a project blending photography, graphic novels, and collage to challenge the stigma faced by 3,000 shoeshiners who wear ski masks to conceal their identities.The initiative has grown into a platform for visibility and empowerment—expanding incomes through publications, music, toys, calendars, and even a community-run restaurant, Lustra Gourmet. With CatchLight’s support, Estol plans to scale the project to five shoeshiner organizations, training workers as visual activists to continue transforming public perception and reclaiming dignity.
