the place i call home
On now at Amricani Arts Centre, Kuwait

Qatari based artist, Sara Al Obaidly is featured in, 'the place i call home', a project that uses contemporary photography to explore the idea of home related to the experiences of young people living in the Gulf and the UK at a time of rapid change and social mobility.

Commissioned by the British Council and curated by David Drake, Director of Ffotogallery, the national photography agency for Wales. After scoping visits to all six GCC countries, the curator determined the vision and approach for the exhibition and commissioned several UK and Middle East-based artists to produce work responding to its themes. The selected artists reflect a balance of age, gender and professional experience, as well as representation of all six GCC countries. In various ways, the work of the selected artists is about sharing stories of culture and heritage, challenging stereotypes, exploring identities, commonalities and differences.

Sara Al Obaidly's series 'Concret Diaries' is featured in the exhibition along with the work of sixteen other artists from the UK and Middle East.  The exhibition will travel on to Ffoto Gallery Cardiff, Wales in the UKThe Fire Station, Doha, Qatar Riverlights, Derby, UKBahrain Musuem Art Space, Manama, BahrainStal Gallery, Muscat, Oman in the coming months.
