Danish Collective Sara Brincher Balbiti, Peter Helles Eriksen and Tobias Selnaes Markussen are featured with their new series the merge at
Breda Photo Festival in the Netherlands. The festival who's theme is "To Invinity and Beyond" presents the most recent chapter of the trio's new project, ‘The Merge’, an in-depth investigation into artificial intelligence and robotics. Through a photographic exploration, the photographers collectively examine the possibility that we might all live in a simulation. Could it be that our world is a construction, a created illusion? 'the merge' encourages a wider debate about the future of artificial intelligence and robotica.
This has been a big year for the Copenhagen based trio - winners of the
Forhanna Grant, founded by documentary photographer,
Willem Poelstra. The grant is committed to making journalist, scientific documentary (image) productions by talented artists and image makers possible. The trio also snagged the
British Journal of Photography's International Photography Award earlier this year, which allowed them to exhibit 'the merge' in London with
TJ Boulting Gallery in July.
Sara, Peter and Tobias are represented by East Wing - their first co-operative series
'Phenomena' was featured last year at
San Francisco Photo Fair,
The Greasewood Gallery in Marfa Texas and
Unseen Amsterdam 2017.
