Shadman Shahid Selected for Prestigious Joop Swart Masterclass 2017

Bangladeshi photographer and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute alumnus Shadman Shahid has been selected for the prestigious Joop Swart Masterclass 2017, an international platform for young photographers.

Organised by World Press Photo, the winners of the Masterclass were announced at World Press Photo Festival in Amsterdam.  For its 24th edition. World Press Photo has selected 12 young photographers from 11 different countries around the world.

A total of 187 young photographers were invited to submit their portfolios by World Press nominating Committee this year and only 12 were selected.

Shadman is a freelance documentary photographer, born and raised in Dhaka, Bangledesh and a graduate of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in photography.  Other achievements include being chosen as one of the "Ones to Watch" by British Journal of Photography in 2016, He was also one of the finalists in the Grand Prix at Lodz Fotofestiwal, Poland in 2016 and third Prize Winner as an emerging photographer of Asia in Dali International Photographic Festival, China in 2015.
